Queen City Poetry Workshop and Open Mic is a spectacle of epic proportions. Poets, spoken word artists, and writers come together to share their work, belt out emotions, promote art form, and dabble in hijinks. It starts with writing (or discussion) and always includes a featured poet (or group of poets). The event happens every 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month. The (FREE) workshops are 6:30-7:30pm. Sign-up for the ($3) show starts at 7:30pm and the show begins promptly at 8:00pm.
This week's featured poet is Hieu Minh Nguyen.
Hieu Minh Nguyen was born and raised in Saint Paul, Minnesota, by a single, Vietnamese-American, mother. He is the author of This Way to the Sugar (Write Bloody Press, 2014). Hieu is a Kundiman fellow, a recipient of the VERVE grant from Intermedia Arts, and a recipient of the MinnesotaEmerging Writers’ Grant from The Loft Literary Center. His work has also appeared or is forthcoming in publications such as The Journal, PANK, Anti, Muzzle, decomP, Indiana Review, and other journals. He also works at a haberdashery.
